Manager, Press Freedom, Safety & Advocacy

Ms. Dinnah Ondari works at the Media Council of Kenya in the position of Manager, Press Freedom Safety and Advocacy. She is an outstanding professional journalist with experience spanning 17 years.  Previously, she worked as a reporter and editor in print journalism for 13 years where she led a team of correspondents and reporters in general news coverage and parliamentary reporting, building a track record of groundbreaking stories to her name. During her stint in the newsroom, Dinnah also honed her skills in television commentary and analysis at K24.

She holds Masters’ Degree in Political Science and Public Administration, a Bachelors’ Degree in Communication and Political Science from the University of Nairobi, and a Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies.

Her current work involves leading the Council’s strategic efforts in promotion and protection of the rights and privileges of journalists, including safety and protection as well as access to information. Prior to her current post, she served in the position of Manager, Accreditation and Compliance.
